Why we Started MVMT 360
After years of working with golfers, we decided to create a clinic built with golfers in mind. We play a sport that is different than how most people move in their lives from a biomechanical standpoint. The swing is nearly entirely built around rotational movement and most people live their lives in flexion and extension, with very little rotation. Combine these two worlds: someone who doesn’t spend much time throughout their day rotating and then get them into a sport that demands it. Top it all off, by putting a high amount of torque through the body and interesting things can start to happen: very little of which is good.
The body is an amazing problem solver. It usually does it without you ever acknowledging that it’s being done. Have a trail hip that doesn’t rotate, a mid back that’s only been asked to flex? Well, that’s not going to stop you from getting that clubface to find the golf ball. But it doesn’t mean it’s going to be done in an efficient way that’s going to allow the body to repeat the motion and continue to play golf years into the future.
This piece is where our experience guides our patients into creating range of motion that might have been painful or lacking, and prepare your body for what is going to be required on the golf course. We stress this with our patients all the time — even if you go to the gym and lead an active lifestyle, injury history and training the specific movements golf requires is what actually builds consistency on the course and longevity in the sport. Going to the gym isn’t the same as training for golf.
So we designed MVMT 360 the way we’d want to be treated ourselves: as golfers, using everything we know as clinicians. One where assessment isn’t just range of motion and strength testing, but understanding the swing itself. The sequencing, the pressure shifts, the rotation through the hips and thoracic spine, and then connecting what we see in the body to what’s actually happening in the swing.
That’s the idea behind MVMT 360: clinical precision meets our golf obsession. Not a PT clinic that happens to see some golfers — a team that spends its clinical hours treating injuries and rehabbing patients, and spends its downtime thinking about the game itself. We love the game even though we never have as much time as we’d like to play it. That’s why we built the clinic: to help every golfer who walks through our doors get more out of the time they do have to play.
